boatswife Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 well, not so new! I'm a Brandon follower! My name is Patty and I live in Sitka, AK. I own a Coast Guard family support website/forum. I did buy the new 4.0 vbulletin license when it first came out. I don't know a whole lot, but know enough that I wasn't impressed. I really tried to use it, but I just can't get past the fact that I paid for my license twice. So with those feelings, I renewed my old IPB license and I'm not looking back. It's nice to see that IPB's customer service has not changed....great as ever! Figured I'd better join now that I've made my decision to stick with IPB. Quote
Brandon Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 We have a few vBulletin transplants, welcome to the club :) I don't mind the new vB, I know there are a lot of bugs still that need fixed before gold should be released. Thanks for joining us, and I look forward to seeing your IPB site grow along with ours B) Quote
boatswife Posted December 10, 2009 Author Posted December 10, 2009 Well, as much as I hate to admit it.....I had to switch back to vbulletin. I do like IPB, but I just couldn't stay with it. I don't like saying one thing and then doing another. At least I did get more familiar with IPB and maybe I'll be able to help someone else. :) They're customer service is the absolute best! 1 Quote

You have to do what is best for the forum :) can I ask why you went back to vB? Do you like the new 4.0 version, or did you have problems with the import to IPB? Quote
boatswife Posted December 11, 2009 Author Posted December 11, 2009 You have to do what is best for the forum :) can I ask why you went back to vB? Do you like the new 4.0 version, or did you have problems with the import to IPB? A lot was familiarity and ease of use for me. There are things that I love/dislike about IPB. Their permission system totally rocks, the fast reply is wonderful and my members really loved the status updates (I can't think right now beyond that), but it was really slow loading for me. I remember it was the same the last time I used it, but I'm on dedicated now and thought I'd renew and try again. Some members said it was fast and others said it was slow too. I don't know enough to tweak and improve, so back to vb 3.8.4. I'm fortunate that my members follow me wherever I go, but once the vb forum was back in place they voiced their happiness. With my knowledge, there is no way I'm messing with the 4.0 box of rocks until they have all the kinks worked out. I want something ready right out of the box, not a product full of bugs. I did install it, but decided to just wait. I'll have some time around March to get that set up. I think IPB is a stand up company with a good product and their customer support is stellar. I'm glad to see them getting more business from vb users. It's also a license that I'm not willing to sell. Who knows what the future will hold! LOL Quote
