Posted November 29, 200915 yr I just purchased www.IPBSetup.com and it was suggested to me that I use that URL vs the current www.IPBHelp.me I like the .me I have, I think it's catchy, but I do see a point in useing a .com. If you had these two URL and wanted to make a general support site for IPB fans, which one would you use? Please vote also, does anyone know how I'd go about changing the URL in the IPB settings? I can do it in vBulletin blindfolded, but I'm still searching around in IPB for settings. Thanks everyone -Brandon
November 29, 200915 yr I voted for IPBSetup.com just because of your last forum...even though the name now is quite catchy like you say haha
November 29, 200915 yr You know my stance on this. I'm for IPBsetup.com. It sounds more professional, is a TLD, and isn't geo-specific.
November 29, 200915 yr Author hmm.. okay.. well how hard is it going to be to change the URL details in the IPB admin? in vBulletin it was one setting under general settings, URL address.. is it the same in IPB?
November 29, 200915 yr Brandon, I know you will need to edit the conf_global.php file. The value should be easy to spot - $INFO['board_url'] = 'http://www.domain.com'; You will also need to got to Admin CP > System > System Settings > General Configuration and make the necessary changes there. I'm not positive, but I am thinking that might do it for you.
November 29, 200915 yr Administrators hmm.. okay.. well how hard is it going to be to change the URL details in the IPB admin? in vBulletin it was one setting under general settings, URL address.. is it the same in IPB? Change the URL in global config and in the general settings then rebuild the caches. Rebuilding will update all the links to the old domain.

November 30, 200915 yr Author okay, I think I got the url switched, just hope I didn't break anything along the way
November 30, 200915 yr Well, unless you're playing around with a re-design of the site, it looks as if you managed to whack the buttons. /monthly_11_2009/post-113-13382266805002_thumb.png Try this - Admin CP > Look & Feel > Template Tools > Recache Skin Sets See if that squares things away.
November 30, 200915 yr I see which name won haha Well, unless you're playing around with a re-design of the site, it looks as if you managed to whack the buttons. /monthly_12_2009/post-101-13382266805233_thumb.png Try this - Admin CP > Look & Feel > Template Tools > Recache Skin Sets See if that squares things away. Yeah I see that also....they're at the top also.
November 30, 200915 yr Author I just took care of the buttons, had to re-cache the styles.. I guess I didn't get them all when I switched URL's I asked the IPB master himself :)
