Create a new database and import the dump into the new database.

Then install the converter app and set it up to import the data. Once you have the sites merged you can setup redirects to get the merged users to the site.

You could use the splash page if you wanted, but, it is better to redirect to the new site and put up a welcome notice for the members so they know what happened.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Do you know of any tools that would help me decide which domain name to use? Mine currently has a higher PR and more indexed pages in Google, but I am not sure if that is a good enough reason to use mine over the one I bought.

They do get more new members than me, so it seem at odds with me over which one to use. Is it more of a matter of 'taste' and 'feeling' vs any kind of metric?

Thanks,

Jamie

The domain to use really doesn't matter. If you add the redirects the pr will propagate to the domain you use from the one you redirect.

There is no specific way to decide on which domain to use. I always use the domain that I imported into. I never do anything with the domains I get when I purchase a site other than redirect the url's. If I am buying a site and not merging it with another then I use the domains that came with it. This site is an example of that. I purchased domains and content and other than new style it's as it was.

It's personal preference really and there is no set in stone way to do it.
