Rukas Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 I have two questions. 1. I have seen it mentioned but cant find it on here, how do I set up the 301 redirects for my current set up to point to the ipboard install? I dont want to lose my currently indexed pages. 2. It is very important for me to have domain.com/username or at the very least domain.com/forum/username. I understand ipboard puts the userID number into the URL, but since vbulletin does not I dont want those links to die, plus for the type of site I am setting up it looks better. I have over 40,000 members and do not want each member having to remember their userID when they give their profile URL out. So basically this is a must for me. Any tips? Thanks guys. Otherwise awesomely informative website AWS, it is what got me interested in the conversion in the first place! Quote
Administrators AWS Posted May 14, 2010 Administrators Posted May 14, 2010 No links will die. IPB has all the tools you'll need included with the download to redirect the old urls. Al you'll need to do is setup rewrite rules to redirect the vbseo urls to the standard vbulletin urls. IPB will do the rest. Quote

I thought I had to set vbSEO to forward to the old vbulletin links and then set those to forward to the ipboard links. That is where I am lost, Im not sure how to do this. And also, so, is it possible to have domain.com/forum/username instead of domain.com/forum/userID-username? Quote

Yes ... search at vBseo for uninstall and you get the rewrite rule to redirect to vB default urls. In the IPB Conversion tools you'll have a showthread.php a forumdisplay.php (and some other fiels) that you must upload to the same folder where vB were. Configure it and let it do the work for you :) And also, so, is it possible to have domain.com/forum/username instead of domain.com/forum/userID-username? I don't think so. Quote
Rukas Posted June 4, 2010 Author Posted June 4, 2010 Can anyone else help me with setting up domain.com/forum/username without the user number in the URL? Quote
