I'm a refugee from vBulletin and am in the process of converting to IPB. After some difficulty, I was able to get all the members, forums, posts, and avatars into the new database. I ran the conversion for attachments and looking at the database, all 23,000 of them are there, but in the posts, I only see the old ATTACH12345ATTACH (with square brackets) where the pictures should be. I have flushed the cache, run all the cleanup utilities and played with it for hours, but can't seem to make it work. Anybody have some suggestions? Of course I picked the weekend to do this when IPB support is closed. <_<
Have you made sure all the folder/file permissions are set properly at the server level? In the Admincp go to the "Support" tab then select the "Permissions Checker". You may also want to run the "Dtabase and Database Index" checkers too.

Thanks for you reply, John. I checked the things you suggested and see no errors. Does IPB use the square brackets to represent attachments the way vB does?
They do, that's a standard tag. What happens when you try to upload a completely new image to a post?

Well, I flushed the cache again and magically all my attachments are showing up. That's about the 4th time I've done that.

Here's another quick question: How do I change the font in the posts. The default seems to be a ComicSans or similar.

Thanks for your help.

Don

Excellent! IPB is touchy it seems with the cache in lot's of areas. Which skin are you using? Those controls are typically found in the ipb_styles.css file that you can edit from the skin manager.

By the way, what do you think of IPB versus vB so far?

Using the default IPB skin. I found the file but it's pretty big. Is there some way to search in it? Any clues as to what I'm looking for?
The font settings are spread throughout that file but they have broken it down by section.
