So a few weeks back I applied to the Microsoft office 2010 Technical Preview program and today I was accepted. I see they've closed off the applications so its possible I was one of the last few lucky ones to make it in the program.

So far, I'm in the installation process, and its gone 100% flawless from upgrading from Office 2007. I'm using the 64bit version on a Asus P6T mobo, 12GB ram and Intel i7 processor so this thing should run just fine! Installation took about 8 minutes to complete, which was far less than Office 2007 took for some reason and I'm about to fire up the program right now. But first the first thing I noticed was the "Send a Smile" application that lets you send either a smile or frown back to Microsoft about the preview program!

The first program I tested and have screenshots of is MS Word. MS Word loaded in literally 2 seconds flat if that, and was ready to go and use in under 3 for sure. MS did a good job maintaining the look of previous versions while adding the new functions into word. Most notably is the first screen shot of some sort of versioning control/permissions.

The other screen shots are just of the main program and the start menu showing everything that was included with the Technical Preview of Microsoft Office 2010.

Next I'm off to check out Excel 2010!

I saw the preview of Office 2010 on their website. It looks really nice. I can't wait to get my hands on it. (((Although I use Office 2003 more than Office 2007 right now)))
