I also do post exchanges. I'm thinking about holding a gaming marathon for charity, which would help with publicity. What else can I do to get more people to join and be active members?

Are you using social media sites like Digg, Stumbleupon, Redit, Technorati, Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and the countless others to market and grow your site to your select niche? If you are, how is each one performing, and do you track how well their traffic converts compared to other sources, such as search engines, or referrals from other sites.

How many people use the open source project of Wordpress to power their sites? I was using it here before CCS came out, and I use it on a number of other sites I manage right now. Currently, I'm making use of the Woothemes http://bit.ly/4pyuiY I find them to be fantastic.
