I was recently asked why I chose to stay with IPB Webmaster instead of using another domain because IPB is now Invision Community. The reason is that myself and many others still think of Invision as IPB. Plus the site was originally started as IPB Webmaster in 2009. Why not use a well established brand even if it hasn't been open the whole time. Could I rebrand the site? Yes. I really doubt I will. If it comes to a point where users are getting confused I'll think of rebranding. For now it's fine as it is. It's pretty obvious what this community is for. For Invision Community enthusiasts to gather and discuss the forum community software they love.

I recently bought the domain https://notusing.net. I use it to park domains I am either going to sell or use in the future. When I got disgusted with Internet Brands attitude and vbulletin I had an idea. I have 5 unused vbulletin licenses. They all used to point to the domains they were installed. What I did was change the domains license to point to https://notusing.net. I didn't want any of the communities I have converted from vbulletin to IPB to be associated with the IB brand or vbulletin. I have since pointed all sorts of scripts that require a domain to be set for license purposes that I no longer use to the domain. If you want to use the domain just set …

Hows everyone doing? I know I haven't been around much, my new vbulletin site has taken some of my online time  and my support for ipb is about to expire, I'll renew it as soon as I get a spare 25$ in paypal Just wanted to see how everyone was doing? Are you all as sick of the cold and snow as I am :D

I've been running tests on both vB and IPB installs over the past couple of months, while lining up a couple of personal projects (this, in wait for vB Gold-er :P :D ). Every step of the way, these hurdles have been springing up in front of the vB side of the equation. First there were the bug riddled releases. Then, yesterday I finally decided that I will run one project on vB and one on IPB. Tonight I finally got some time to go ahead and start mapping out the final approach. I erased the previous install of the vB - because it had been up/down-converted a dozen times and I didn't want any straggler glitches left over - and proceeded to do a fresh install. Bam! "Fat…

What are your thoughts on the swiftness of the search. Its hard to get a good compare between vB and IP in this area because I am unsure of either site hardware. I bring this up because the 'view new content' (only search I have really used yet) seems really lethargic on all the sites I have been on. Considering how swift and responsive the rest of the sites seem to be, the search seems like its choking up somewhere. Or is it just me? To me, search responsiveness (and of course relevance) is crucial. Couple other things: 1- Is there a way to not show already read threads in the 'new content' results (kind of like vB) or do I just need to get used to it again? …

I've bought a IPB license for FBodyOnline and set up a test site to try out the converter and look for potential problems when I do a final conversion later on. Hopefully in the next couple months after I add my design and some modifications.

Why is it that many (or most) American boards have the general forums as last forum? I see it many times, the introductions, feedback etc are all downstairs. I find it a bit strange an does not welcome me as new member. Ok, I know how it goed, but there are more people who don't. I like it better to have the general forum on top. In it are the rules, announcements etc etc, almost anything a new member needs to read and needs to feel at home. So can you explain why it is pretty common to do it this way?

The trouble with The Internet is that imbeciles are allowed to touch it. These same imbeciles like nothing more than repeating the same annoying phrases over and over until they very much stop being funny. This film takes a look at which phrases should be banned, and suggests more clememt alternatives to save you wearing out the same keys on your keyboard over and over again. Step 1: Calling People 'Sir' You, sir, fail at Teh Internets' Ooh, look at me. I just called you sir'. I'm a hoity-toity London city gent circa 1845, don't cha know? What Ho, pip pop. Faux flattery like calling someone sir' unnecessarily doesn't make you some sort of smart, plucky, flat-cap wearin…

From an end user standpoint, I really like how the editor toolbars slide in when you click in the Fast Reply field. A similar action happens when you edit a post. It feels a lot slicker than vBulletin's quick reply and edit tools. The only thing I really don't like about the default layout is the new topic and reply buttons are right aligned..We read from left to right. I suppose that can just be changed in a template though. Just my .02, Dan

Is there a way to set permissions so that Guests are unable to view the box at the bottom of the screen that lists Active Users, Board Statistics, etc? Thanks.
