What are your thoughts on the swiftness of the search. Its hard to get a good compare between vB and IP in this area because I am unsure of either site hardware. I bring this up because the 'view new content' (only search I have really used yet) seems really lethargic on all the sites I have been on. Considering how swift and responsive the rest of the sites seem to be, the search seems like its choking up somewhere. Or is it just me? To me, search responsiveness (and of course relevance) is crucial. Couple other things: 1- Is there a way to not show already read threads in the 'new content' results (kind of like vB) or do I just need to get used to it again? …

From an end user standpoint, I really like how the editor toolbars slide in when you click in the Fast Reply field. A similar action happens when you edit a post. It feels a lot slicker than vBulletin's quick reply and edit tools. The only thing I really don't like about the default layout is the new topic and reply buttons are right aligned..We read from left to right. I suppose that can just be changed in a template though. Just my .02, Dan

The longest awaited iPhone feature is almost here, native iOS notifications, and we couldn't wait to ensure it is enabled for your Invision Community. Invision Community 4.7.9 is iPhone push notification ready for when Apple release their latest iOS update later this month. This means you'll finally get notifications on your phone, even when you do not have your browser open, to alert you of new content on followed items and more. A feature Android owners have enjoyed for a while. With notifications, you can have an authentic native app experience with built-in Invision Community features such as the manifest editor. The manifest editor allows you to …

I've been running tests on both vB and IPB installs over the past couple of months, while lining up a couple of personal projects (this, in wait for vB Gold-er :P :D ). Every step of the way, these hurdles have been springing up in front of the vB side of the equation. First there were the bug riddled releases. Then, yesterday I finally decided that I will run one project on vB and one on IPB. Tonight I finally got some time to go ahead and start mapping out the final approach. I erased the previous install of the vB - because it had been up/down-converted a dozen times and I didn't want any straggler glitches left over - and proceeded to do a fresh install. Bam! "Fat…

Anyone here like to cook on the grill? Yea? Well so do I. But I think my pit is a little small. Plans are to build a bigger one when I get some free time. The handle on the little pit needs to be fixed, but it still works. http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc194/kevcj/Bar-b-q%20pictures/DSC03813Small.jpg And here is my bigger pit. http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc194/kevcj/Bar-b-q%20pictures/IMG_4088Small.jpg http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc194/kevcj/brett%20wedding/DSC09829Small.jpg

The whole site is really starting to take shape. I especially like the main page. The only suggestion I would make is to change the gallery display to look like forum categories until you get a larger amount of albums. Other than that the place is shaping up real nice.

We would like to take this opportunity to inform you of an important decision we've made with regard to the Invision Community Marketplace. After careful evaluation and consideration, we have decided to discontinue the Invision Community Marketplace, effective October 30, 2023. Over the past several years, we have noticed a decrease in usage of the Marketplace, with a staggering 75% decline in sales. In addition, we have observed a growing trend away from off the shelf customizations towards bespoke tailoring of a community by working more closely with developers. While it has been a platform for many dedicated and talented contributors to share their work, we belie…

The Marketplace is closing on October 30th 2023. If you haven't already read the announcement, please read it first. As our Marketplace prepares to close its doors, we want to ensure a seamless transition for our customers. To facilitate this process, we're introducing a new 'license key' system to allow you to transfer your purchases to the third-party developer website in a privacy-conscious way. On the 'My Purchases' page, you'll find an improved layout displaying each resource you've purchased from the Marketplace. This includes the original purchase date, the expiry date (if applicable) and the current renewal term (if applicable). Additionally, we've …

So a few weeks back I applied to the Microsoft office 2010 Technical Preview program and today I was accepted. I see they've closed off the applications so its possible I was one of the last few lucky ones to make it in the program. So far, I'm in the installation process, and its gone 100% flawless from upgrading from Office 2007. I'm using the 64bit version on a Asus P6T mobo, 12GB ram and Intel i7 processor so this thing should run just fine! Installation took about 8 minutes to complete, which was far less than Office 2007 took for some reason and I'm about to fire up the program right now. But first the first thing I noticed was the "Send a Smile" application that…

I know you are working on it, but I do not want to keep it to myself. Yesterday I noticed there was no direct link on the homepage to the boards index, only to the subforums. Is that supposed to be like that. Personaly I do not like it and want a normal link to the boards. Now I must go to a subforum and than to the index. Not userfriendly imvho http://ipbwebmaster.com/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif

Spam has always been an ongoing battle for community owners as spammers find new ways to circumvent existing anti-spam practices. We have seen an uptick in new ways spammers are breaking through existing defense. As such, we here at Invision Community continue to look at new ways for community managers to combat against spam. For our September release, we have added several new tools that can prevent spammers from registering in the first place and help combat them even if they register successfully. Let's take a look at these new tools and settings. Geolocation based registration filtering Oftentimes, spam attacks can originate using bots and ser…

Here are just a few opinions if you don't mind Brandon. First off it would be really nice to have a general chat forum here :P There is also a bug in the version of IPB that you are running on, in the image below there is supposed to be a grey background behind the blue line Iv'e made and the buttons are supposed to line up at the end: http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/7051/imagetg.png Find this and just remove the 'background-color: inherit' from the code below: ul.post_controls { background-color: inherit; background-image: url({style_images_url}/gradient_bg.png); background-repeat: repeat-x; background-position: 50%; I'm sure you know how to, but it looks…

Hi Brandon, Thanks for setting up the IPB version of setup. I like you, have moved one of my forums from vB to IPB. I thought I'd point out there is a page loading error on the home page. It's a java error related to the shout-box. I kept getting the same error myself whenever I enabled the shoutbox on the sidebar. I thought I'd point it out, if you figure out a fix, let me know! -Chris

Any tips on where I should start or any good guides that you know of. Any help really appreciated :)
